If you’re looking for a short getaway from Sydney, there’s a destination just an hours drive north up the Pacific Highway, just perfect for you. The Central Coast is a region of beautiful beaches, tranquil towns, bush walks and nature. It has some of the best fishing and surfing spots and also many other outdoor activities for adults and kids alike!
We have been to Central Coast NSW so many times and still always had something to be in awe of! In the first few times, we started exploring NSW, we would just pick any new place we spotted on the Map and head out to explore it! We have discovered so many new places and hidden spots in the past few years that we would like to share with you all. So, here are things to do on the Central Coast.
ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL BEACHES
The Central Coast has some beautiful beaches, many of them great for surfing, or with lovely rock pools for the kids to swim in. Here are some of our favourites:
- AVOCA BEACH
- SHELLY BEACH
- CAVES BEACH
- FINGAL BAY
- PALM BEACH
DO THE COASTAL WALKS
If you are in for some hardcore bushwalking, then you can do the complete 8.5km coastal walk at Bouddi National Park. If you are looking for shorter, more manageable walks then you can split it up into any of these:
- Putty Beach to Maitland Bay (3km)
- Maitland Bay to Little Beach (3.5km)
- Little Beach to MacMasters Beach (1.7km)
SPEND YOUR DAY WITH THE BEAUTIFUL HORSES IN GLENWORTH VALLEY
If there is one place we love going over and over, Glenworth Valley it is! We couldn’t believe that this beautiful destination abundant with animals and lush surroundings were so close to Sydney.
It’s such a secret, adventurous place to hang out. We recommend coming for at least one night and camping. Get up early for the horse mustering. It’s a really special experience to see herds of horses come galloping up through the fields from the mist. If you cannot stay overnight then try heading there on a weekend by dusk. You will thank us for the magical experience, for sure!
COOL YOURSELF IN THE SOMERSBY WATERFALLS
Somersby Falls is the perfect picnic place if you have just half a day in hand. With free BBQ’s, lot of picnic area’s and a cosy canopy of tall trees, you are bound to enjoy your lunch date to perfection. After you have enjoyed your BBQ, you can head out to try the Somersby Falls walking track. This 500 metres return walk through rainforest will give you views of the top and bottom of the waterfalls.
